The Grand National Results

You join us here after 21 fences of the Grand National. You might remember what my tips were? My tips were Silver by nature to win for the What a Friend to fall and comply or die to die. Comply or Die is still alive so it looks like that fiver might have gone down the swanny. I’m already a hundred quid up though.

Vladimir McTavish Presents A Scotsman’s Guide to Betting

A TALE OF HOW ONE MAN SPENT MOST OF A YEAR DRINKING, BETTING AND LOSING MONEY. THE REST OF THE TIME HE JUST WASTED.

Producing a show at The Edinburgh Fringe, can cost a lot. I know guys who’ve lost as much as £ 7,000 on their show. And that’s before they spent anything on booze and fags !

So I’m going to finance this year’s show by gambling. I’m trying win £ 7k in the course of a calendar year, ending at The Fringe this August.

It’s been a bit up-and-down, partly down to my reckless stupidity. Last August, one the first day of the football season in England and Scotland, Blackpool and Aberdeen were top of their leagues. So like an idiot I took out a double on them winning the SPL and the Carling Premier League. I won’t see that fiver again.

David Milliband to win the Labour leadership seemed a fairly smart bet, but proved equally foolhardy. However, by the turn of the year, things were starting to look, as I’d gambled on a White Christmas, the date of the Royal Wedding, and the fact that the Lockerbie Bomber would still be alive in 2011.

Join me here each week, as I give you my betting tips for sport, showbiz, current affairs and off-the-wall events. Check the state of my totaliser in the countdown to August.

Join me for the show in Edinburgh this August. A Scotsman’s Guide to Betting is at The Stand Comedy Club from August 5th to at 7 pm.
